Hi Eduard, To me, your settings seem to be OK. Your Virus is quite wide for a Virus. I see two possible problems: 1. If you have any canting under your feet. This kills EC turns... 2. Virus boards have traditionnally very short radius (less than 8 meters). Having the board vertically with such a rad...

Hi Richard, You have now experienced the EC feeling by yourself: separation of centrifugal and the gravitiy forces during the turn. You have also probably noticed that in these conditions, the board makes the turn easily, by itself. I think that you are now ready to make huge and rapid progress in E...

Hi Richard, Sorry for the time left, but I hadn’t seen I wasn’t logged, so the forum didn’t show me there was new messages… Thank you for your modesty, that allows me to compare your style to ours. I would like to precise that your style is THE standard alpine style used by most of the riders. So th...

Hi, Of course we will have to adapt the current available material to our needs. The only problem with soft ski boots is the sole size that is much too long... But we could already modify current snowboard hardboots. ie: modifiing the spring system of the Reichle AF700 should be OK. I think it is ev...

Hi Fox, You are right, flex is one of the keys of a good snowboard (but only one...). The way you are testing it in the shop gives you a good estimation of its stiffness, but nothing about its disribution. Flex disribution is responsible of the board shape when it is been bent. That is why a snowboa...

Hi Utahcarver, The sidecut radius is the radius of the part of circle that shapes each side of a snowboard. But it not always a circle. Sometimes it is several circles or an ellipse or a parabola. I've been trying several kinds of sidecut and to me, the pure radius is the most precise sidcut and the...

Hi lucky guy, You should try them before to take them to your bootfitter, because they are very comfortable. The most important modification to do is on the rear spring device. The front flex spring is too hard: as you can see on the photo ("Equipment" page on the site), we used 3 springs (yellow: h...

Yes, we would like to teach extreme carving to all of you! But for that, we need more lifes than just the one we got... 8O This site is the solution to this problem. And the forum allows you personal questions. If, after having read carefully all the instructions and trained hard, you think you can'...

I think Nils is absolutely right. First: correct rotation. Second: correct turn entry. Backside turn: a bit more difficult because the rider don't see the slope very well at the begining of the turn and because he can use only one hand to touch the snow. But Patrice will tell you that the backside t...

He did it!

Nils sent us this photo (he is too humble to put it by himself on the forum...) So, half a season (10 days) training was enough to him to be a master in frontside laid turns. Next year, he is going to tackle the backside laid turn  Sure that at the end of the next season we will get an extreme...

Chris Klug settings

I read the interview of Chris Klug on Bomberonline ( http://www.bomberonline.com/Bomber_Files/Chris_Klug/chris_klug.html ) and I noticed several strange things... Here is an extract of the interview about his setting: BOL:Describe your equipment setup that you used in the Olympics. CK: I ride a Burt...

Hi fox, Patrice and I never said that soft boots are better than hardboots. After having been riding the powder for years in hard boots, we just prefer the soft boots feeling in powder. We both only go off piste if the conditions are really good: powder and no track. In these conditions strong edge ...

Very simple: make a lot of prototypes, test them, then choose which one you prefer. More seriously, we are facing two opposite desires: we both want the perfect board, but we both want to make the same turns. The first condition means that we need boards that are proportionnal to our respective size...

All this is much too complicated to me... 8O

As I said, I mesure an aproximative angle of 84° with protactor and ruler, on the rear foot, but then I adjust the whole thing on piste, on hard snow.
