Re: One little victory.... Critique needed on backside techn
Hi Petr! (and everyone else for that matter) Winter has effectively ended here :( and unless I can squeeze one more day out of a distant resort, it looks like I will have to wait at least another 9 months before I can resume my quest to become a SWOARDER. How I wish I had the time and the means to a...

Re: One little victory.... Critique needed on backside techn
THANK YOU to all of you that have weighed in with your analysis, pointers, and especially encouragement! :clap3: :clap3: :clap3: WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION @Rob--- Your hunch is 100% correct :pray2: . I do have a VERY strong tendency to be front-foot heavy. What you say makes sense... I am loading the nose...

One little victory.... Critique needed on backside technique
Hello all! After countless tumbles, crashes and some very sore gluteus maximus, I have taken a small but important step closer to the ultimate goal! A lift attendant took an interest in the funny-looking maneuvers I kept trying at the end of each run and took a short video. I've played it repeatedly...

Re: Movie : "Lock, Stock and Two Alpine Snowboards"
WOW! :pray2: :pray2: :pray2: Still taking baby steps learning how to ride alpine... I have been able to do fully laid frontside turns a few times, and have gotten my backside turn to be fully laid only once. At this time I have not been successful in my attempts to link fully laid turns in EC style....

Re: Feedback on pics...sorry no video...
I am reading this with great interest, since I myself am still in the infancy stage of hard booting. I only got six rides on my SWOARD last year due to extremely poor winter conditions. Sadly, it looks to be more of the same right now, not a single sign of snow at the resorts in my area here in the ...

Re: Reinforcing Gloves - Clothing for EC
Back on the topic of modifying gloves for the rigors of EC... I found this liquid rubber compound which is normally used for dipping/coating tool handles for a rubberized grip. I have coated the entire palm side of my gloves including the fingers and cuff, and so far this liquid rubber compound has ...

Re: Feedback on pics...sorry no video...
Hi Abrax! EUREKA!!! I followed your link to the other thread, and what I read there was the key to finally understanding what was holding me back from being able to smoothly link my C-turns at higher speeds! Abrax/Rob: Please give me your feedback, what will follow is my thought process of what I th...

Re: Feedback on pics...sorry no video...
Hello all!!! Much like KeepTheSport, I am a very recent convert to hard booting, and can definitely relate to the "growing pains" of trying to relearn how to turn. I am finding the advice given here by Rob and Abrax to be quite informative and helpful. At this point I have virtually no pics or video...

Re: Non-Alpine snowboarders: Rotation, Push-Pull and even EC
Hi all!!! :hello: :hello: :hello: How ironic it is... In my quest to learn how to extreme-carve with an alpine stick and hardboots, I wind up coming across quite possibly the most in-depth video tutorials I've ever seen on ROTATION, PUSH-PULL and EC being demonstrated by riders using freeride boards...

softboots carving : Rotation, Push-Pull and even EC
Hello all! Stumbled across this little video tutorial... I don't know if this has been previously posted on the forums, but I have been following this guy FunCarve on Vimeo. Pretty impressive stuff, and it breaks down some technique down to the most minute details    http://vimeo.c...

Re: It actually worked!!
Hey! Well yes... I have always sought to properly carve my turns through all the years that I've ridden. However, this was all on conventional freeride/freestyle boards and softboots. I had known about alpine snowboarding since 1996, and though it fascinated me, I never actually seriously thought ab...

Re: It actually worked!!
Bravo! Having very recently joined the ranks of alpine riders myself, it is very exciting to see you in the fold as well! :bravo: I'll have to wait till next winter to continue my learning process, the US just went through the fourth-warmest winter on record. I wish there was a "fridge" nearby but t...
