Re: Different Styles

My attraction to EC came out of surfing waves most of my life and seeing people in the late 80's in hardboots trying to lay out turns but not connecting one side to the other. EC style was the first I'd seen connect both sides to laid out turns. For me, snowboarding is all about having as much fun a...

Last blast in California

Hey all, I really enjoyed meeting some of you there at Pyragudes in the Pyrenees. I am now back in California and we just had around 40 cm of snow May 29-30. Kirkwood near south lake tahoe was open on the 31st and it was a lot of fun. If anybody happens to be coming to California, Squaw Valley will ...

In 1995, I hit a rock going on the rear binding going fast down the piste which ripped out the binding and inserts off the board. The binding didn't release or break. I did fracture(greenstick type) my left leg in about 20 pieces and spent 6 months recovering. The next year I bought Bomber bindings ...

Piau-Engaly, Pyrenees

A friend and I went to Piau for the first time on Wed and Fri the 4th of February. Wednesday was great because of fresh snow on Monday, about 25 cm. I think it is a good place for intermediate to advanced carvers. The steepest groomed run is Perdreaux at about 42 degress at the top for a 100 meters....

Pyrenees

I am moving to France next year near Toulouse and Pamiers. What ski areas are decent for carving in the Pyrenees? I know there are quite a number of areas up there but it is hard to find pictures that show ANY groomed runs.
