Fantastic
Eddie: Thanks for that reply! The mirror idea is a good one, however, I don't have a mirror that is anywhere near where I can setup on my board. I'm thinking of using my digital recorder to tape me a little and then review that... The pictures you referenced are awesome. Seeing the whole sequence li...

No Weight
This is cjhoffmn. I changed my nickname to something a little more "Carving Sounding." :P I made this happen on my board the first time by mistake, and it really was unsettling when it happened. :? I then learned how to do it on purpose and it became a bit fun. :P It felt like I was trying to make t...

Weightlessness
From reading your posts, it seems to me that you are describing a weightlessness feeling. Using your second post, in that moment *just before* you start to fall, you have a feeling of weightlessness. In your first post, you describe the feeling of weightlessness in the slow turns, which goes away in...

I also noticed...
During the same tests, I also noticed that when I twisted my torso toward the nose of the board ala the great "face forward or face your bindings" debate, It put a great deal of twisting force on the board. I could clearly feel the tension that I was putting on the board to twist so that the tail wo...

Heelside and balance
I'm still working on solidly getting regular carves on my route to extreme carving. I've just gotten my first carving board, and need some help with my heelsides. I was reading about boarding somewhere, I'm not sure where, and in a section about drills when not on the mountain there was a discussion...

Helmet with Face
I just upgraded my helmet this year to the Giro Race with face protector. I've always been an avid "listener" on the mountain and never felt that helmets impeded my awareness, although I will note that of course things are a bit muffled with a helmet on my head. There are helmets available that have...

Standard stances
Jacques: I've been very curious about stance settings as well, but I rarely have several days of riding to try different stances for a long enough period to really feel the differences. Can you suggest some stances that people can try for riding EC style? For example, for a Rider (me) who is 188 cm ...

Donek
Nate: Sean from Donek will tell you in 3 seconds flat that he thinks torsional stiffness is, if not the most important factor, one of the top factors in building a good carving board. He has done a fair bit of thinking on this matter and could probably answer this question with a rigorous, scientifi...

Man he can't walk yet... But he sure can run...
Buggs: I understand completely what you mean, and realistically, I don't get too many chances to try the EC because I'm still working on too many basics. I'm still rooting out the evils of counter rotation and the desire to reach DOWN to the snow. :x So I only get about 3-5 chances to try ECs a day ...

Report is in: Hard to do on my board
Nils you forecasted well what it would be like for me. I spent 2 days riding with the new UPS boots. I have a few adjustments left to get them to fit just right, but I got them comfortable on the 2nd day. Too bad you can't just order in France from Dan - he's great to work with. I was a bit sad with...

First Hardboot day
My new hard boots and bindings arrived today. :D (Kudos to Dan Yoja for getting them to me so quickly. He's great.) I've been softboot riding since I learned to ride until now. The cravings for the ECs that I got from from this site finally helped me make up my mind to go to hardboots. Tau...

Never mind! I bought the UPS RX
They make a version of the X-Mach called the RX that is the same as the X-Mach with metal buckles instead of plastic. They arrived today, although I haven't been home to put them on yet. Can't wait.

Does that go for all intec heels?
Does that apply to the Trench Digger step ins as well? What about the UPS bindings they show on the UPS site that have what looks like a pull release for a step in heel on the UPS boots?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Ya Hardboots are in progress
Thanks for the great replies. In fact, I'm moving to plates and hardboots now. Since it sounds like the Canyon's good for the powder riding, and I already like it as a freeride board so.. I'm gonna keep it. I'm picking the Bomber Trench Diggers and I'm thinking of the Raichle 423s. (See my post in t...

Are the Raichle 423s too soft?
I'm evaluating hardboots to make the conversion from soft. The Asymetrical Flexing of the AF series bothers me a little, I think I'd rather not have my boots favor a directional flex. Anyone ridden the 423s and know if they are a good choice? Also, does anyone think the AF shouldn't be a concern? Th...
