New Extremecarver Pro2: preview

Post by Swoard team » Friday 23 December 2016, 18:45

This season looks very exciting for Swoard! It is a new big wave that arrives! :silly:
We don't release one, nor two, but three new generations!! After the Dual2 and the Extremecarver Gen5, we present you the Extremecarver Pro2. Some riders could see it during the SDT in Hintertux (Austria). 8O

We perfectly managed to adapt our technology to thicker Titanal (0.4 mm) after the unique supplier stopped producing the thickness that was mainly used in the snowboard industry (0.3 mm). It was a real challenge and we made many prototypes. The transition is a success. What is also fantastic is that through this development we even improved the performances of the board! :bravo:

The differences on the snow can be felt mainly in between the first series of Pro1 and the new Pro2. The series of Pro1.1 made in March 2016 (still with 0.3 mm Titanal) is absolutely awesome, and very very close to the Pro2. So honestly it's no need to upgrade if you have a Pro1.1.
In addition, the finishing of Pro2 is as excellent as Pro1.1 (while the finishing of Pro1 was not always at this level).

Among the performances there is again awesome dampening, what pays on the ice and bad snow. One of the unique characteristics of the Swoard boards is still there: the ability to improvise when you carve; you are not locked in the turns as with other metal boards, and the board is not limited to being good in only one type (or radius) of turns. Smoothness and easiness are surprising for such high level board. In our humble opinion, the best EC board ever. 8)

Of course we can't avoid the question: "What is the difference with Gen5?". Patrice has answered in another thread:
fivat wrote:The two boards have different characters, though we retrieve common points and the Swoard signature. On the snow, when switching from one board to another, I say to myself every time "wow"! :D

I really enjoy riding both boards. The Gen5 brings a little more pop (an increased dynamism) and is more toy. As explained, the technology has evolved and the Carbon-Kevlar ATC Matrix works really well.
The Pro is always incredibly stable and dampened: it makes the difference on heterogeneous snow or on ice for advanced riders. Our Metal ATC Matrix technology, involving a set of metal parts and not simply sandwiched Titanal sheets (as other brands), allows to get the advantages of metal without the disadvantages (one of the major disadvantages being precisely the lack of pop in common metal boards).

I will take my winter having fun with both boards in all possible conditions and on all inclinations of slopes. :D
Here is the new graphics, with a very small evolution of preceding one. There is also some coherence with the other models, Dual2 and Extremecarver Gen5.
 Availability: online at the beginning of January 2017.

Again, special thanks to Lionel (the artist) and Patrice (the perfectionist) for the graphics. We hope you like it. 8)

Merry Christmas! :xmas:

The very good news is that the board is still easy to carve, like the Pro 1, despite the thicker titanal. Also the light riders should appreciate this new improvement. :D

Logistics and IT things always take time, espcially at the end of the year. Thus boards should be available at the beginning of January. We hope from 9th January.

The team and I can't wait anymore to share this new wave with friends and everyone.
It's a big satisfaction like cooking with love: one enjoys making people around the table happy with the dishes. ;-)
And there is not only one awesome dish, but three! :o

If I buy new gen5 or pro2. . .
Should I have to do edging sharp?
Or just ride with factory setting.

To avoid injury while handling at warehouse and during shipping, the edges are not "rasor like" when the board comes from the factory.
Anyway, you can ride the board as is.

You have to check the edge when you receive the board. Even if it's not pefect (for reason explained above) you can ride it as is if the snow is not too hard. If you directly ride on icy slopes it's better to perfectly sharpen the edge before use.
In any case it's suggested to sharpen the edges after some days.

Check the forum ( search function) for many detailed answered

Normal edge tuning: 90°

Better: -1° base and total 90°

even better: -1° and total 89° using tooltonic technique ( check the videos online from tooltonic.ch on youtube)
