Welcome!

Postby Swoard team » Wednesday 24 August 2011, 12:45

Welcome! :D

This Forum has been created on 21st March 2002. It has evolved a lot during the years... Now here is a new step: a big upgrade to a version with many features for everyone! 8)

We managed to keep all data, messages and accounts. In consequence the Forum is also a rich data base: use the search tool (top right) as you do with Google and other search engines.

The problems about encoding some languages (Russian, Japanese, etc.) have been solved. Note however that a few old messages are still unreadable by some readers.

If you experience any bug or any problem with your old account, please write me a private message through this Forum (or an e-mail to webmaster@extremecarving.com if you can't log in). Thanks!

Have nice threads!

FAQ and registered users accounts

Postby Swoard team » Wednesday 24 August 2011, 13:09

There are many new features in this Forum. You will need some time to get used to them and discover other ones. We don't give there an exhaustive list of all functions: the best is that you explore each menu and test all buttons. ;-)

 FAQ about using the Forum

 FAQ about the subjects discussed in the Forum
It is not updated every day, so please use the search tool in priority.

The registered users can:
- post messages
- edit the messages they have posted
- read the recent messages only
- define their profile, choose their language (among 30 available!) and many things: here
- NEW: manage their subscriptions, bookmarks, drafts, attachments
- vote in the polls or create polls in the threads
- send private messages to other users (you get an account linked to the Forum)
- etc.

It's not necessary to give personal information except your e-mail address (which won't be visible by other users). The data base won't be used for mailing lists or other boring things.

Forum behaviour

Postby Swoard team » Wednesday 24 August 2011, 13:21

Forum behaviour

 We are asking people to behave in the Forum (as they do 99.9% of time) to keep it interesting for everyone.

 Please avoid provocative posts, insults etc... and off topic posts...
It is OK to link to commercial sites, but please do it in a subtle way, and try to stay in the same field... Please respect the persons running this Forum and the ones who have developed/popularized extremecarving.

 Advertisement posted by vendors (or their teams) is not allowed.
Remember: as written on top right, this place is the "support for Swoard snowboards and Swoard-EC technique."

 The replies to posts giving simple redirections to other Forum are not allowed: if a thread starts there, it must continue there. This is an obvious rule applied worldwide.

This forum is now a great source of knowledge for everyone, as well as a community place for European and worldwide carvers to meet and share: be part of the building with your contribution, good vibes and humor !

Date & time format

Postby Swoard team » Wednesday 24 August 2011, 14:14

 How to display the time of the messages in your own timezone?
If you are a registered user, change simply your settings in your Profile (link at the top of the page).

 How to personalize change the date & time format?
For example would you prefer to see "Fri 19 April 2011, 14:56" instead of "19 Apr 2011 02:56 pm"?
Change the format string in your settings (Date format). Here are the most useful characters recognized in the format string:

l (lowercase 'L') - day of the week, textual, long; i.e. "Friday"
D - day of the week, textual, 3 letters; i.e. "Fri"

j - day of the month without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "31"
d - day of the month, 2 digits with leading zeros; i.e. "01" to "31"

S - English ordinal suffix for the day of the month, 2 characters; i.e. "th", "nd"

F - month, textual, long; i.e. "January"
M - month, textual, 3 letters; i.e. "Jan"
m - month; i.e. "01" to "12"
n - month without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "12"

g - hour, 12-hour format without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "12"
G - hour, 24-hour format without leading zeros; i.e. "0" to "23"
h - hour, 12-hour format; i.e. "01" to "12"
H - hour, 24-hour format; i.e. "00" to "23"

i - minutes; i.e. "00" to "59"

s - seconds; i.e. "00" to "59"

a - "am" or "pm"
A - "AM" or "PM"

Y - year, 4 digits; i.e. "1999"
y - year, 2 digits; i.e. "99"

Unrecognized characters in the format string will be displayed as-is. For example ":" or ",".
