Northwave Spring Mechanism replacement

Post by skywalker » Saturday 7 January 2006, 15:04

some of you might already wonder, why there is no German Spring Mechanism Solution. Before my first day on snow this winter, the Original spring mechanism of my Northwave boots broke, so I was forced, to be creative. In German stainless steel is also called Edelstahl, which is noble steel. Look at the pictures and you will know why.

more (also pictures) will come soon ;)

Sorry Nils,

no orders before February

 Just kidding.
But to be honest: I would like to do some testing, then they will be sold (if I manage to let them go ;)). There will be also a solution for Raichle Boots and for Northwaves without Spring...

WOW!

Post by rcrobar » Saturday 7 January 2006, 19:27

Hi Tom

Wow, the parts look beautiful. I find it so hard to resist buying new equipment, especially when it is of such high quality!
skywalker wrote:There will be also a solution for Raichle Boots and for Northwaves without Spring...
Does this mean the solution will involve a system that uses something other than a spring for resistance?

Or does it mean that you will be showing us a new spring replacement mechanism for Raichle boots, but the buyer would have to buy springs from someone else?

We NEED more pictures! :D

Great job!!
Rob

Hi Rob,

sorry for my bad English. What I wanted to say is just, that there will be a spring mechanism to fit Raichle boots. Replacement in my eyes means, that there has to be one already, so in this case, it's not exactly the point. But of course it replaces the adjustment-mechanism of the Raichles by a Spring.

As formerly said: There will be more pics before February, but first I have to test ;)

Beautiful craftsmanship! Let us know more about the Raichle solution, as not all of us have the luxury of being able to use Northwave boots.

Nice work Tom, count me in for a spare for my Northwaves!

Take some to Zinal ECS if you are there. I wonder how you did manage to break your Northwave springsystem.

Just want to keep you informed  :
Replacement Kit did fine during five days of hardpack riding in Livigno. Everything was fine, but spring kit was absolutely great. We had some different kits with us, but one solution each for more lighweight and less lightweight riders performed outstanding. So machining of the missing parts of Northwave replacement sets is on its way.

Today I also finished last Prototype of Suspension Kit for Raichle. It offers same variation of forward lean and spring compression as NW-Mechanism. As far as I can say after first tests, no Problems at all, same function as NW set :!: . Design is finished so far, so production can start within the next week... planning to have first sets of Suspension Kit for Raichles with me at the ECS  .

To be continued

RAB, this is great news, Tom

Post by Hans » Sunday 22 January 2006, 21:38

Tom,

This is great news :bravo: :clap2:  :pray2:
Count me in for two sets if possible at the ECS. I am interested in both the sets for the Raichles as the Northwaves.

Do you have a picture of the Raichle/Deeluxe set?

Sorry Hans, as I told Nils before: No orders before February   Of course I will try to have enough sets with me in Zinal. If not, I promise, that everyone, who orders a set in Zinal will recieve ist within a really short time (no waiting until summer!!)

I'm a bit shy to show pics of Raichle / DeeLuxe, because work is not yet finished  So it looks rather like a filing training than a piece of craftsmanship...

stay tuned

Can't believe that it isn't a piece of craftmanship looking at the pictures of the new Northwave suspension set. I have all the faith in you that it will be a piece of art. Great that you will already have some sets at the ECS. I will be sleeping at your doorpost.

Greets, Hans.
