It is with sadness that we learned this morning the passing of Jean Nerva at age 57, after a long fight with eye and brain tumor affecting him since 2011.
He was one of the reasons we do extremecarving today, and has inspired us to learn carving and progress.
For those who met him, he was nice and open and he was thrilled to learn about the creation of Swoard when I told him... Unfortunately , he had gotten rid of his hardboots so never got to ride our boards..
He was a second generation snowboarder that pulled the sport to modern times, and he will be missed.

R.I.P. Jean...
We will miss you. You are another legend who leaves too early...

Re: Jean Nerva
In addition to being an alpine champion (twice world champion), Jean was a motorbike champion, a good musician and an excellent journalist (for the first snowboard magazines).
He was also known for smiling in front of the camera during his turns!
In this (French) article there are links to his main videos.
"Canon Surf", with Régis Rolland, was a revelation for me in 1987, the year when I started snowboarding.
Antoine Massy in this same video has, later, deeply influenced the snowboard ride technique by promoting the turn with (hips and chest) rotation... characteristic of the Swiss snowboard technique. Jacques had the chance to progress with him.
