When it was still produced, POINT 950 costed 700.... DM (the standard version, not the superstiff one for racers...)
And to remember, 1 euro = 1,95583 DM

so we're talking about 360 EUR

and for info, POINT 900 costed 500 DM (255 EUR)
and POINT 350 costed 400 DM (205 EUR)

yeah, it was really cheap...

I really understand the current situation and prices, but don't say it's nearly the same as it was before as it's NOT.
And what about the costs of the other boots at that time?

And which was the price of a Big Mac?

What about inflation...

An interesting question, and I googled around a bit. It seems that DM 800,- in 1999 money translates to about EUR 320,- in today's money. So yes, the boots were cheaper then. Of course, the alpine market was a lot bigger (there were more hardbooters), and the competition was stiffer - there were not two other hardboot brands, but five or six, IIRC.

Might be better check compare prices of F2 bindings then and now.
Anyway, if price if too high for person now, best is not then buy them.
Price is worth those boots only for those who buy them.

Not the question

same.... :)

not really the question as puhutes said that the boots costed 800 (EUR supposed) back in time... so I don't see where it's question about inflation...
But you're right, inflation could be considered.... so for western Europe add 25 to 30% to the prices I gave... so we're at 450 euros for the .950....

If you do a benchmark on this forum, I'm sure you have seen spring system tuning on my .900 (long brass tubing & x-soft spring)

800 euros for a pair of boots is not precisaly cheap, we must includ shipping cost and custom taxes.... almost 900?
If we speak about 900 euros per boots, around 1000 for board and 400 for bindings the total amount is around 2300 euros, and I'm not including the crazy prices of plates systems and the custom taxes to get the whole quiver in our countries.
it is not something cheap for the new generations of snowboard teenagers .
let go figure a teeenager asking to theirs fathers or our owns childrens almost 3000 euros for a hardboot quiver.
When for about 600 they get a softboot quiver less technical to ride, easy to learn, and economically more accesible of course this kind of market grow and grow
this is one of reason because the hardbooter age is around fifties or up
Younger hardbooter generations don't walk behind us, so hardboot market never will grow.

Same is occuring with our cousins wind and kite.
you need 3 boards, 6 sails, 5 mast, 2 booms a complete set of fins...... all crazy expensive... ah! I forget a van to transport the whole quiver
With kite you need only two kites 9 and 11 and 1 board and you can carry in bus or even in train or plane more afordable for young people.
conclusion wind is dead, and the windsurfer ages is around fifties while in kite is between 12!! and 25 years old

let do our sports more accesible to all generations.
Ride hard;100% fun

Jennifer, as you know this is not a racer website, so what do you plan about stiffness of original .900 model ?
puhutes wrote: This is not a racer website? Isn't this a site about Alpine Snowboarding?
The boot is designed and developed for Alpine Snowboarding. The stiffness has a lot to do with the weight of the rider.
We have a new spring setup so you can set the springs soft until it is too soft.
Have you ever tried a Point.950 boot? Have you ever set the spring system to a softer setting?
An important question is also: which binding were you riding?
Many ride the step-in system from F2 which is very direct and stiff.
Jennifer, you forgot about the lateral stiffness of the boot! There is no spring mechanism! Too hard boots for free carving is not comfortable.
So many carvers would be grateful to you if you start making shoes with stiffness identical to NW Point 900

and one more, - many riders do not like step-in system...

I think that the all of us have to be happy that some one is investing in hard snowboard and we have more choice.
Next to all the well know builder who works every year in new boards, Swoard has just made the gen 5, we have something happening after years.
Swoard Redline bindings,
PHK the PH1.
Mountain Slope the new .951
Deeluxe has made 425,
UPZ new tongue and cuff.
Nobile started building hard boards,
OES also is new in the market.

I guess you would have to try the new one and decide for yourself. The new boot isn't the same and the stiffness can be adjusted. So better to try first.

Yes, I'll be very happy to test them. But i'm not ready to buy them to do that. Is it possible to try them in the French Alpes?
