Can you believe that this picture is from today in the Alps, on 24th May? :silly:

Winter never dies

Looks like one of the best freeride days in Hintertux this year - and the resort is almost empty :)

8O :silly: :birthday:

This year is exceptional.
For extreme freeriding, some very steep mountains 55°-65° can be ridden only in June, because they are too icy or with too many stones before.
Some professional freeriders are going to have great moments...

Attached my picture from last summer, july 9th.
Preparing, grooming the snow for summer season in Saas Fee for opening on 18th of july

(on left you see the returning group of people climbing to the top)

Link to the streetview / 360photo I made with my girlfriends phone ;)

(picture is made around the restaurant, on the 4 corners of the balcony. Thats why you see glitches in stitching on the lower half of the picture. Horizons stitches really well.)

Nice! :bravo: The 360° photo is funny without the restaurant (the highest rotating restaurant in the world!!). ;-)

I love the place. It's where we shot these pictures in 2002 !!
Date is 19th July 2002, and at that time the resort had more opening days...

Some resorts never close, like Zermatt (Switzerland) or Hintertux (Austria). Look at this picture shot on 20th June 2016:

It's awesome. 8O Since one month, it was powder conditions, and temperatures were negative most of the time.
This year, spring in the Alps is really exceptional. 8)

Most of the newly fallen snow below the glacier resort has melted.
We got at least 10cm new snow the other night :D :bravo:

Yes, last week it snowed down to 2300 m!! They got 60 cm in Hintertux. 8O
In Saas Fee, they prepared the slopes for the reopening. Yesterday (17th July) the sow conditions were not powder, but rather good for July. :D

The bad point is that year after year they increase the price of skipass: now it's 72 CHF for one day... well, one morning (opening hours: 7-12 am)!! It has increased by 50% in 15 years... :-( Moreover in the past they reopened in June already. Well, snow is becoming really white gold because of the global warming...
